1 Each piece type moves differently: pawns, knights, bishops, rooks, queen, and king.

2 Click a piece to select it, then click a highlighted square to move.

3 Capture opponent pieces by moving to their square.

4 The goal is to checkmate the opponent king (threaten it with no escape).

5 Special moves include castling, en passant, and pawn promotion.
